Bios of our Coaches and Champions

Currently our Coaches and Champions are Betty Delmore and Doug Oliver from McMaster Family Practice, Lynn Dykeman and Wendy Milburn from Stonechurch Health Centre,  Andrea Loft and Amie Havenaar from Regina Gardens.

Lynn Dykeman

 

Lynn Dykeman has been a social worker at Stonechurch Family Health Centre since 2001. Her areas of interest and experience are in Solution Focused Therapy, addictions and sexual abuse treatment and working with clients with anxiety and depression. She sees adults and children at SFHC for individual and group  counselling. She has expertise in working with clients from the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered communities. She is particularily interested in enhancing interdisciplinary partnership in primary health care.

Lynn is a behavioral science and competencies tutor, and a part-time instructor in the Social Work program at Wilfred Laurier University.

 

Wendy Milburn

 

Wendy Milburn is the education administrative assistant at Stonechurch Family Health Centre (SFHC). She has worked as a medical secretary for the Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Hospital in the Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Emergency departments.

Wendy plays a key role in organizing medical residents, medical students, occupational therapy and physiotherapy students, and all other learners who are on site. In addition, she provides administrative assistance to outside programs, research projects and educational activities. She is currently involved with the Pier Project and is assisting Lynn Dykeman with the Kurdish community project.

 

Doug Oliver

 

Dr. Doug Oliver is a Family Physician and Assistant Clinical Professor currently practicing at McMaster Family Practice. In addition to having a diverse general practice, he has developed special interests in Care of the Elderly, Palliative Care and primary care psychiatry.

 

He is currently the Geriatric Education Coordinator for the Department of Family Medicine and the Undergraduate Care of the Elderly clerkship coordinator. Dr. Oliver has been a member of the Care of the Elderly Working Group in the department since 2005 and has assisted in the development of an educational program in Long-Term Care for family medicine residents. His interests in education and elder care have resulted in the development of research projects investigating the attitudes of residents towards elderly patients throughout their training. Dr. Oliver has been a Behavioural Sciences Tutor since 2004 and also serves on the Behavioural Sciences Executive Committee.

 

Outside of work, Dr. Oliver enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 young children (his real full-time job) at their home in Dundas.

Andrea Loft

Andrea Loft is a Registered Nurse and is the current Administrator of Regina Gardens. She assumed this role in August 2007.  Andrea has worked in long term care for 20 years in various capacities.

Amie Havenaar

Amie Havenaar is a Clinical Nurse Manager at Regina Gardens. A graduate of McMaster University, she has worked in long term care for 4 years and has experience as a palliative resource nurse.
